SOCIAL MEDIA AND SHIFTING CULTURAL PATTERNS IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY A QUALITATIVE STUDY IN THE DIGITAL ERA

This study examines the influence of social media on the transformation of cultural patterns in contemporary society from an Islamic perspective. The rapid growth of digital technology has reshaped the way people interact, communicate, and construct their identities. Social media functions not only as a means of connection but also as a medium for forming new cultural values and behavioral norms. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through library research, this study analyzes literature related to social media, contemporary culture, and Islamic moral principles. The findings indicate that social media plays a dual role: it fosters creativity and social engagement while also presenting ethical and moral challenges. Integrating Islamic values such as honesty (shidq), responsibility (amanah), balance (wasathiyyah), and compassion (rahmah) is therefore essential to guide digital behavior.
