The relationship between religion and conflict is an important topic in the study of social dynamics, especially in pluralistic societies. Although religion is often seen as a source of peace and harmony, in many cases, religion can also serve as a trigger or justification for social conflict. This article discusses how religion can act as both a source of tension and a mediator in social conflict. Using the approach of social conflict theory and collective identity, this article analyzes the social dynamics that emerge amid religious tensions in several conflict-prone areas. This study also explores the role of religion in reducing or exacerbating social tensions, as well as the importance of interfaith dialogue and understanding in maintaining peace
