Abstract

Academic integrity violations, such as plagiarism, cheating during exams, and data manipulation, are serious issues within higher education institutions. This journal discusses the importance of both education and academic ethics for students as a preventive strategy to address these issues. Ethics not only shapes each student's character and moral responsibility but also instills an awareness of the importance of honesty and fairness in academic processes. Through a qualitative approach involving literature review and analysis of higher education institutional policies, this paper highlights the roles of curriculum, lecturers, and academic culture in fostering student integrity. The findings indicate that the systematic and continuous integration of academic ethics education can reduce the incidence of integrity violations and strengthen a healthy academic culture. Therefore, academic ethics education serves as an essential foundation for creating a distinguished and trustworthy higher education environment.
