Abstract

This study explores the role of Quranic values in shaping social norms and fostering cohesion within Muslim communities. Using a qualitative, multisite case study approach, it examines how principles such as justice, compassion, and collective responsibility guide interpersonal and communal practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis, focusing on practices like musyawarah (consultation), ta’awun (mutual assistance), and Zakat (charity). The findings reveal that Quranic teachings significantly influence conflict resolution, promote inclusive governance, and address systemic inequalities by fostering solidarity and ethical conduct. The study further integrates Quranic values with modern social theories, such as Durkheim’s concept of social solidarity and Habermas’ theory of the public sphere, demonstrating their relevance in addressing contemporary challenges like social fragmentation and inequality. By aligning religious ethics with empirical sociological frameworks, this research offers a comprehensive model for developing inclusive social policies and ethical governance. This interdisciplinary approach not only bridges Islamic and Western thought but also highlights the enduring applicability of Quranic principles in fostering just and harmonious societies. Future research could expand these findings by exploring their relevance in diverse cultural and political settings, further enriching the discourse on religion and social science.
