Abstract

This journal is The rapid development of information technology has led to various forms of cybercrime, one of which is online fraud, creating new challenges for law enforcement officers, particularly prosecutors, in the process of proving cases in court. This study aims to analyze the forms and characteristics of online fraud, the roles and challenges faced by prosecutors in the evidentiary process, and to formulate effective strategies to achieve legal justice that is adaptive to the digital era. The research employs a normative juridical approach by examining legislation, legal literature, and relevant academic journals, complemented by a conceptual and case approach to the practice of handling online fraud cases. The findings indicate that prosecutors face several obstacles, including limited technical expertise in digital evidence, disharmony between the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) and the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), as well as weak inter-agency and cross-jurisdictional coordination. To overcome these challenges, strategies such as enhancing human resource capacity, establishing specialized cybercrime units, and harmonizing electronic evidence regulations are required to ensure effective and equitable law enforcement.
