Abstract

Legal clinics are a form of practice-based learning that serve as a platform for developing students' legal skills. In the context of modern legal education, legal clinics focus not only on mastering theory but also on practical skills such as negotiation and mediation. This article aims to examine the role of legal clinics in developing negotiation and mediation skills in law students, and how hands-on experience in legal clinics can strengthen the professionalism and social empathy of prospective legal practitioners. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, drawing on literature studies and observations of legal clinic activities at several universities in Indonesia. The results indicate that legal clinic activities contribute significantly to developing students' communication skills, conflict analysis skills, and mediation and negotiation skills. Thus, legal clinics play a strategic role in bridging the gap between legal theory and real-world practice.
