Abstract

Religious education has a significant influence on ideological radicalization of students. Studies have shown that religious education can promote greater understanding of various religious beliefs, reduce prejudice and promote tolerance and mutual respect. However, religious education can also promote very rigid beliefs and limiting thinking which can make students more vulnerable to ideological radicalization. Additionally, religious education can promote very rigid beliefs and limit critical thinking, which can make students more susceptible to ideological radicalism. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to evaluate the role of religious education in ideological radicalization and take steps to promote inclusive education, promote greater understanding of various religious beliefs.
