RELIGIOUS RITUALS SOCIAL FUNCTION AND MEANING

This Journal Investigates the issue of Religious rituals are an inseparable part of the lives of religious communities. Beyond being a form of spiritual devotion, rituals also serve as a means to reinforce social cohesion within society. This article aims to analyze the social functions and symbolic meanings embedded in religious rituals through a qualitative-descriptive approach using literature review. The findings show that religious rituals serve various social functions such as forming collective identity, maintaining social stability, and strengthening group solidarity. In addition, the symbolic meanings in each ritual reflect the noble values and belief systems of a community. Thus, religious rituals are not only spiritual expressions but also vital instruments for maintaining social harm
