Abstract

Consumerism has become a prominent feature of modern society that identifies happiness and existence through material possessions. This culture not only impacts the economic and environmental aspects, but also erodes the spiritual depth of humans. This article examines the concept of spiritual minimalism as a response to the phenomenon of consumerism, by making Sufism an alternative framework. Sufi values such as zuhud (moving away from worldly dependence), qana'ah (feeling sufficient), and muhasabah (self-introspection) offer a simple but meaningful way of life. Through the Sufism approach, individuals are directed to shift their life orientation from material satisfaction to inner peace and closeness to God. This article emphasizes that spiritual minimalism within the framework of Sufism can be an ethical, ecological, and existential solution in facing the consumerism crisis that is hitting contemporary society.
